Strengthening Food Security: SF Nigeria Collaborates with Industries

In response to the Food and Agriculture Organisation’s (FAO) concerning projection of acute food insecurity in Nigeria, Syngenta Foundation Nigeria, in partnership with fertilizer giant OCP Africa and Olam, has embarked on a collaborative effort to bolster food security. This initiative comes at a crucial time, as neglect of agricultural production threatens the livelihoods of millions of Nigerians.

The collaboration was formalized as the foundation hosted Network Managers from key agricultural regions, including Kano, Benue, Oyo, and Lagos, at a two-day high-level meeting in Abuja. The primary objective of the gathering was to review, plan, and strategize for the upcoming 2024 farming season.

During the meeting, discussions centered around grooming farmers, fostering connections with agro-entrepreneurs, and exploring the deployment of greenhouse technologies. These technologies hold immense potential to fortify food security, stimulate agricultural exports, and drive economic growth in the country.

By bringing together stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain, this collaborative effort aims to address the pressing challenges facing Nigeria’s agriculture sector. Through strategic planning and innovative solutions, Syngenta Foundation Nigeria and its partners are committed to building a more resilient and sustainable food system for the nation.
